How much does laser treatment cost?

Three smiling friends compare treatment prices on a phone aboard an East River ferry at golden hour.

If you are watching your budget, it makes sense to ask about laser costs first.

Finding out what laser treatment costs

The clearest way to learn the cost is a quote that shows everything, so you can compare clinics fairly.

Keeping visit prices and plan prices apart

A single-visit price and a full-plan price are easy to mix up. These questions line the numbers up:

  1. What is the price per visit, and how many visits do you expect me to need?
  2. What is the total for the full plan?
  3. Are consultations, follow-ups and aftercare products included, or extra?
  4. Is there a smaller first step I can try before paying for a full plan?
  5. How does the price change if I need more visits than planned?

Ask each clinic to put its numbers on paper, and compare two or three of them on the same list. A lower price per visit does not help if the plan needs more visits.

Saying your budget out loud

Settle on your budget ahead of the consultation and say it plainly when you are there. A provider who respects a beginner's budget will offer a lower-commitment way to start.

It also helps to know what the plan you are pricing involves. For a calm overview, try a dermatologic surgery society's page on laser skin resurfacing and Cleveland Clinic's page on laser procedures. If the treatment is for a scar, the AAD's list of 10 things to know before laser treatment for your scar is a short read.

Checking every number with the clinic

Every price and plan should be confirmed directly with the clinic that would treat you.
